What began as one mother's search for answers has grown into a place where families and professionals can learn together—bridging the gap between professional recommendations and real-life implementation.

Communication

Communication isn’t merely learning to talk. Communication is belonging. Communication transforms families. Communication changes education.

For our non-speaking son, Alternative Augmentative Communication was not seen as a replacement for a lacking ability, but it was the path to revealing ability.

Literacy

Literacy is the pathway to full communication. The acts of writing words and reading those words back to yourself or offering them to the world are profound marvels. They are often also profoundly difficult for children with communication challenges.

Journey

There is a narrative thread that connects the stories of our lives from the beginning to today. Years before our non-speaking son was born, I wrote blog posts on communication and literacy within family life. I did not begin as an expert in AAC writing for families. I began as a mother trying to understand the children in my home. Any expertise grew out of love, necessity, and experience.
