Beginner's Gospel Story Bible AAC Modeling for Old Testament

Beginner's Gospel Story Bible AAC Modeling for Old Testament

We used the Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible for our 2019-2020 school year bible reading. The language and word choices were perfect for modeling AAC core words and doing some shared reading every morning. I selected a different resource for our bible reading this year, but Nathaniel kept getting the Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible from the shelf and bringing it to the table. Mid October, I returned to the text exclusively. We read one story each day for a week which gives us a lot of repetition with the story and core vocabulary. The fifty-two stories work perfectly for scheduling a full year of reading and modeling AAC vocabulary. We finished with the twenty-six Old Testament just before Christmas.

Over the last few months I have made lists of the core words I model with each story. I have chosen words from the thirty-six core words that are part of the Universal Core with Project Core. All thirty-six words are used at least once and some more than once. This has provided Nathaniel with another layer of review of the most important AAC core vocabulary, and allowed me to model the words in a variety of ways. I modeled HERE as a statement, “HERE it is” when Jacob gave Esau his stew, and HERE as a question when God’s people complained to Moses, “Why did you bring us HERE?”

I’m so excited to share my list of Core Words to Model with The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible Old Testament stories with you!

My six page resource covers all twenty-six stories of the Old Testament using two to three words per story. I provide at least one phrase and page numbers in the bible for each word. If the word is not mentioned directly in the text, the phrase I suggest compliments the story.

The Core Words to Model with The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible Old Testament word list can be found and downloaded in my member area. Because it represents a significant amount of time and work, I am unable to make it free at this time. The member area is a growing collection of resources and includes access to my five video series called GrAACe Filled AAC at home.
